MARRON GLACÉ

When creating a fragrance, Nuria du Chêne de Vère always begins with a feeling: something she wishes to convey in a single breath.

Marron Glacé is a warm happiness that fills the air of a home.

While composing it, her thoughts return to the days when, as a child, she would enter her grandmother’s living room: embroidered sofas, the sound of family voices in the background and, on an inlaid wooden table, a silver tray filled with marrons glacés and violets, placed at eye level beside a collection of colourful opera glasses.

She also remembers accompanying her parents to choose a box to give as a gift at a dinner party or to take with them to the countryside. They would be enjoyed after an autumn lunch, perhaps after gathering hazelnuts from the tree in front of the house, with the crunch of shells beneath their feet.

And then there were Christmases in Spain, when the marrons glacés would arrive wrapped in golden paper, always greeted with great enthusiasm by her grandparents, who described them as a true “Milanese delicacy.”

All these memories left a deep sense of warmth within her, which she wanted to transform into fragrance. Creating it in collaboration with Giovanni Galli was an immensely emotional experience for her.

Built around the key marron glacé accord, the fragrance unfolds through notes of patchouli, a touch of violet, honey and hazelnut.

Nuria’s wish is that this fragrance may accompany the most beautiful moments in the lives of those who wear it, just as it has accompanied her own memories.
